Given the founders’ backgrounds, the Foundation feels there is no group more deserving of its help than members of the entertainment industry. The Foundation provides substantial support to the Motion Picture and Television Fund, the industry’s health care provider of choice, as well as its leading provider of retirement facilities.
The Foundation’s support of the Fund began with the creation of “Harry’s Haven,” a specialized unit of the Fund’s retirement center devoted to the care and well-being of entertainment industry patients with dementia caused by Alzheimer’s and other conditions. It was named in memory of Kirk Douglas’s father Harry Deminsky.
The Douglas Foundation has granted $21M in support of MPTF.
